It’s interesting how we often learn things. We either learn it deeply or on the surface. I can safely say that the majority of my later years in school were all surface learning that lasted only long enough to pass a test. But it was the other things, often associated with pain, emotions, and even fear that drove home deep lessons. Lessons like, don’t try to ride on the hood of a 67 Mustang doing 40 on the road, especially when all you have to hang on with is the windshield wiper.
… the dumb things we do as teenagers.
We do the same with biblical education, unless it’s central to something important to us at the moment, we park the information in the back corner of the attic of our mind. Gathering dust, it often means very little to us unless it’s rediscovered and used.
Identity
“…and did make us kings and priests to his God and Father, to him the glory and the power to the ages of the ages! Amen.” Revelation 1:6. I’ve read that, you have read that, but it seems so little of that reality has sunk in, because if it had… I think we would act differently. The reason for saying this is because a biblical understanding of learning is different than our modern understanding.
Our modern understanding allows for the transfer of information without impact on the student. A biblical understanding believes that you have only understood when it has produced a change. Because of this, it’s easy to see the fruit of the teaching of spiritual royalty when people are still acting like destitute poppers.
Disclaimer;
This theory is a new one making its rounds in some circles of Christianity. As I have only, recently become aware of it I am NOT claiming it as fact, even though parts of it I feel have merit, while the rest of it needs more research.
Biblical Evidence
Starting at the very beginning there is a point of confusion that needs to be addressed right in the book of Genesis. The modern Old Testament is derived from primary the Masoretic text that was created well after Jesus arose from the dead. The Septuagint, a far older text makes clear some of the things the more modern muddies up. In fact, the Septuagint would have been the Scripture used during Jesus’ lifetime.
There are numerous examples that I won’t be diving into in this article that clearly display in my mind the superiority of the Septuagint over the Masoretic text. In the book of Genesis, a very old debate exists called the gap theory between verses 1 and 2 of the first chapter. Older (older than the Masoretic) scriptures imply not only a gap of time between these verses but they also imply that the Earth became void. Meaning that it was not always void, and by extension, there was something before.
These ideas are loosely supported by other scriptures that there was “something before.” Case in point, in the book of Job, God responds back as he speaks about building the Earth. “On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” Job 28:6-7 Clearly there was an audience watching the construction process. The Angels and Morningstars existed BEFORE the Earth was created.
For some time the general teaching has been that nothing existed before and that everything started on day one. That modern theory I believe is not supported in the Septuagint scriptures. Consider this short example.
Modern…
“This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them “Mankind” when they were created.” Gen5:1-2
Ancient…
“This is the book of the origin of human beings. On that day God made Adam, he made him according to the divine image; male and female he made them, and he blessed them. And he named them their name Adam on the day he made them.” Gen5:1-2
It is implied in this scripture that it was recording the origin of the human race, not the origin of all races. Angels have their own origin, and God has not disclosed that story to us.
So let’s move on and look at the possibility of more “pre-human” history and how it affects us today.
There was a Rebellion
Most researchers will agree that Satan’s rebellion took place before the fall of Adam and Eve. According to this new theory, this is shown symbolically in the subject of Rahab. In the Bible, there are two Rahabs, the prostitute in the Book of Numbers and another that is far more mysterious.
“Awake, awake, arm of the Lord, clothe yourself with strength! Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?” Isaiah 51:9 Many key phrases to ponder here include, “Generations of old and days gone by.” This scripture is an expansion of a far older scripture in Job 26:12. Rahab in this case was not just a person, “God does not restrain his anger; even the cohorts of Rahab cowered at his feet.” Job 9:13
There is much speculation about who and what Rahab was (FYI, if you do a search you find that these are not the only scriptures connected to Rahab) In this interesting theory we will be playing with today is that Rahab was not Earth, but she was a planet that was destroyed between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter where the current asteroid belt exists.
Hold on, I know this sounds crazy, but let’s run with this theory for a moment. In this theory, a few things can be extrapolated from what we know. The destruction of a planet would quickly cause two things to happen in our solar system.
All the planets would shift their orbits around the sun resulting in a rapid, disastrous planet-ending change in climate.
The debris would have scattered everywhere, hitting the neighboring worlds. Giant impact craters would have been formed, and disaster on a scale unimaginable would have happened to every world.
Question, is it possible that Earth was in a different orbit in the past than what we are in now? Answer, yes it was. Evidence has shown that at one point our day was not 24 hours but 22 hours and a full year was closer to 400 days. This means we were farther out and moving faster.
Under this new theory, the Angelic beings could have inhabited their own place, perhaps Rahab, perhaps all the inner planets. If so, this puts Job 28:6-7 in a slightly different context. “On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” This is of course speaking of Earth, but If there was a war, and they just saw the end result of this great rebellion, then why would they not celebrate the re-creation of one of the worlds?
This re-created world would provide a place to rest, however another issue arises. To whom can the Lord entrust the management of this world? You see confidence had been lost, even those who did not rebel now had the memory of the rebellion and therefore the possibility of rebellion could happen again.
“God places no trust in his servants, he charges his angels with error” Job 4:18 or as it says it better a few chapters later. “If God places no trust in his holy ones if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes” Job 15:15 did you catch that? God was saying there were problems in heaven, he had NO ONE he could trust and all was impure before him.
Now I know I am kind of going “deep into the weeds” to explain this theory. But to condense this down there is some evidence to suggest that when Scripture said, “Let us make Man in OUR image.” It was not just the Trinity that was speaking at that moment, but the combined council of all of the holy ones (sons of God, AKA Angels) Basically the Earth would now be entrusted to a younger brother. Who was weaker, frail, and “…fearfully and wonderfully made…” Psalm 139:4 but this younger brother knew nothing of the war. The frailness he possessed would force the younger brother to learn to trust the Father, and for now, he would be created to be a little lower than the Angels.
It is through the process of trust, that the opportunity for God’s true stewards to arise and claim their places. Stewards, who have been tested and remade in the likeness of Christ. As it hints at in Romans 8:19, “For the creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.” We see shadows of this in the story of Joseph the younger brother taking charge of his brothers. Or Jacob rising higher than his brother Esau who was the elder. We also see it with Issac replacing Esau. We even see it with David and his family. We who were the last to be created shall be the first. Even though those who came before us were given power, we were given authority through the blood.
What Does This Mean?
If you consider the possibility of this theory, then Jesus’s actions on Earth take up a slightly different perspective. Jesus was walking the Earth looking for his family to bring them into glory Hebrews 2:10
He came to call forth from the Earth a family willing to live in His father’s house. John 14:2 Those who accepted were being taught how to live as royalty in a fallen world while waiting to walk in the land of the living. Matthew 5. Jesus demonstrated a way of life above the tares of the earth in the hopes the actions of his redeemed would bring more people home.
Through his actions, and his words he kept pointing us to something greater, a new life, a new world.
In Christ, there is no contradiction between royalty and meekness. His actions demonstrate care for the poor and an intolerance of the the corrupt religious systems. This is because the religious were abdicating their duty and building a kingdom of their own and this angered him.
Modern Charismatic leadership hyper focus on the signs and wonders has blinded them to Christ’s other actions, namely the poor. But such leadership is now forced to manufacture false miracles to keep the people coming back. Because of leadership’s current retrograde actions, Jesus's words now ring, “But he replied to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign. Yet no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah” Matthew 12:39. And this is why some leaders now fake miracles for the public to consume, God is currently withholding them.
This was also a sign of royalty, for just as he was saying evil in the hearts of the leaders has now shut off the works of God before their eyes. It should be known it has not been shut off to the poor, or the righteous, but only to those pretenders who stand in the way.
From the very beginning, God had compassion for his own in the garden, despite the scriptural interpretations of the legalist “believer.” God has chosen a way to not only bring his family home, but he is willing to walk us, step by step in this life to help us learn the ways and duties of true royalty.
We need to examine our day-to-day actions in the light of what we have been called. We are the kings and queens dwelling on fallen earth, assisting Jesus in finding, healing, and feeding the world in order to find the rest of our family.
Our actions should “speak” to the world around us, (James 2:20) not in a superior arrogant attitude, but in the very qualities he spoke of in the sermon on the mount. This way it will be a heart thing, where the deep within you is calling to the hidden deep within them.
Fascinating information! I have never heard of any of these theories. I have, however, wondered about the asteroid belt and how it came to be.
Alot of the theories you mentioned in your article were also explored by G.H Pember in the 18,00's in his book 'Earth's earliest ages.'
Your paragraph on the scripture in Isaiah about the possible planet Rahab;
"In this interesting theory we will be playing with today is that Rahab was not Earth, but she was a planet that was destroyed between the orbit of Mars and Jupiter where the current asteroid belt exists." This could possibly tie in with the ancient Indian Sanskrit text of the Mahabharata:
Nuclear Event in Ancient India. The Mahabharata clearly describes a catastrophic blast that rocked the continent.
"A single projectile charged with all the power in the Universe…An incandescent column of smoke and flame as bright as 10,000 suns, rose in all its splendor…it was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death which reduced to ashes an entire race... The corpses were so burned as to be unrecognizable. Their hair and nails fell out, pottery broke without any apparent cause, and the birds turned white... After a few hours, all foodstuffs were infected."
When excavations of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro reached the street level, they discovered skeletons scattered about the cities, many holding hands and sprawling in the streets as if some instant, horrible doom had taken place. People were just lying, unburied, in the streets of the city. And these skeletons are thousands of years old, even by traditional archaeological standards. What could cause such a thing? Why did the bodies not decay or get eaten by wild animals? Furthermore, there is no apparent cause of a physically violent death.
These skeletons are among the most radioactive ever found, on par with those at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At one site, Soviet scholars found a skeleton which had a radioactive level 50 times greater than normal. Other cities have been found in northern India that show indications of explosions of great magnitude. One such city, found between the Ganges and the mountains of Rajmahal, seems to have been subjected to intense heat. Huge masses of walls and foundations of the ancient city are fused together, literally vitrified! And since there is no indication of a volcanic eruption at Mohenjo-Daro or at the other cities, the intense heat to melt clay vessels can only be explained by an atomic blast or some other unknown weapon. The cities were wiped out entirely. https://www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-places-asia/mohenjo-daro-massacre-00819
And indeed “OUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN & FROM IT WE AWAIT A SAVIOUR, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.”
We do have duties & responsibilities to uphold carry out and do today as Gods people we are “a kingdom of priests, a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own special possession” so that they “may proclaim the excellencies of him who called [them] out of darkness into his marvellous light.”
Just as the Levite priests in the old Covenant/Testament had specific duties, so too does the “royal priesthood” of the New Covenant. In the Old Covenant, the priests made sacrifices for the people of God, offered incense and prayers for them, taught them God's law, judged cases, & made practical decisions about issues that were not otherwise dealt with in the Law. Today God's born again Christ Jesus & Spirit indwelt servants are all as priests of the living God do these same things, but in the context of the New Covenant.
We are to point others to the one true sacrifice of Christ. We pray for the salvation of all men (humankind). We proclaim Gods moral law, to obey the commands Jesus set out and God's Judgement. Seeking in God's Spirit to make practical decisions about living for heavenly father in today's world. Our efforts are making God, His Glory & His Kingdom known throughout the whole world.
As those who have experienced Gods favour, reconciliation forgiveness & Holy Spirit rebirth renewal regeneration and sanctification with God in Christ, are able to convey the message of God to those who are yet His enemies in language they can grasp & understand. This “we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore [all who have not yet responded positively to the Gospel] on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
Each of us has a testimony that a particular unbeliever needs to hear to be able to respond to the Gospel. In addition we ambassadors “have boldness & access with confidence through our faith in [Jesus]” to approach God on behalf of those who struggle as they seek Him. As is true of any ambassador, our primary loyalty is to the kingdom we represent. We must allow nothing to come in the way of fulfilling this responsibility.
We have many rights & duties as Christians & citizens of the Kingdom of God. The ones mentioned relate most directly to our responsibilities to the fallen world & how we are to relate to others.
We must not forget that we also possess an earthly citizenship that confers rights and duties which we must take into account. Our primary citizenship is in heaven, and whatever relationship we have with the state here on earth is temporary, secondary & subservient to our citizenship in heaven & it's call on our lives. The good we can do by expending our time, talents, & wealth on this earthly commonwealth pales in comparison to the eternal results that only come when we focus on serving Jesus in the kingdom of God.
Paul's use of His earthly Roman citizenship exercised his duties to his heavenly one. Paul never used his citizenship to try to change the Roman system by seeking a high office where he could influence the decisions of state. In view of how readily he accepted persecution at other times, we can conclude his primary reason for invoking his citizenship was not so much to protect himself as to protect the reputation & expansion of the Gospel.
Many blessings to you Robert from heavenly father in Christ Jesus and my set apart holy sisterly love to you!
