I recently had a dream, about touching the light. This was followed by an old Don Potter song called, “I Have a Light.” Now the spiritual meaning of the dream was personal, so I won’t be talking about it right now. But it involved not only touching, and handling but also maintaining the light when other leaders couldn’t not even come close.
So this is getting me to think about light itself. In our Solar system light is one of the key components for life itself. To close and everything gets cooked (Mercury and Venus) too far away (Mars) everything is cold. Farther away it gets so super cold that solar cells on spacecraft are pointless, and exotic forms of Fusion are required to keep spacecraft working.
Outside of Earth, special artificial environments are required to keep people alive. This is costly, dangerous, and extremely limiting. Basically, without life support, all life would end very quickly.
In the World, and Body of Christ I would say a fair amount of everything around us has been on life support for a while now. Not only is the world rejecting its creator, but by evidence of recent Christian actions, I would say the Body is learning to do the same thing.
“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” John 3:19-21
One of the things Covid did was allow various church systems to operate with limited oversight. During the lockdown, the reduction of these systems helped to provide the environment for evil to grow, unchecked by social pressures. As a result, it was not long until the congregation discovered how spiritually mentally ill some of their leaders really were. In some regions, because of this Christians started to pull away. They were exiting Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, and even Charismatic churches in droves. I remember listening to YouTuber WrangleStar who is based in the eastern half of Washington state. He was remarking on how many churches in his area are now either closed or they were sharing a pastor.
I have heard reports of as many as three churches paying for one pastor to make the rounds in such areas. And here in North Idaho our small house gathering is made up completely of people who have all left the system. And there is way more out there around us, the Lord has just not connected us to them yet.
Do you feel like you are on life support? Does it seem like everything is changing? God is in the process of rearranging his people. Some are moving, some are being called to create new things. And some leaders will be stepping into vacated positions. We are literally in a new season and much of the old mindset and programs no longer have the effects they once had. To meet this challenge the Lord is raising up new leaders, will you respond?
“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:35-38
