MFH meet... MFH
My Father’s House meet…My Father’s House
As the late Michael Carter used to say, “Today is a good day.” Today, My wife Kathy and I had a meeting with Jacob and Katherine Reddekopp. Long-time Missionaries to Ghana. They had found us on the internet, did a little searching, and felt the Holy Spirit nudge them into meeting us. This was partly inspired by some of my writings on modern Christian Education.
Sitting down at the local Infinity Cafe in town we soon found that their ministry in Ghana was also called My Father’s House. It was an enjoyable time as we soon discovered that not only was the Lord laying some of the same ideas, scriptures, and concerns on them, but we also knew some of the same people.
But soon we got down to business, what was the Lord showing us about education?
I shared my concerns, which are based on my observation of observing higher Christian education. By measuring the fruit of the students’ lives after they leave the system, the whole system can be evaluated. Meaning that if the majority are living enriched lives in Christ, going into some form of ministry. Then the system they came out of was good.
But if the majority are not, and the majority of the students are falling into addictions and unbiblical alternate lifestyles. Well then the tree/system that produced them is bad and should be corrected.
I then started to add various scripture that the Holy has been laying on my heart for a few years now as I gave them my journey of understanding. All in all, I see mounting evidence that our system needs to be reset, Jesus needs to unplug this mess, wait for us to dump our old thinking, and plug us back in.
Consider this.
“We proclaim Him, admonishing every person and teaching every person with all wisdom, so that we may present every person complete in Christ. For this purpose I also labor, striving according to His power which works mightily within me.” Colossians 1:28-29
This is the Apostolic call to present every person complete in Christ. Any education system that does do this, or at least some measure of this is headed in the right direction. To present forth consecrated lives to the throne of the Father in which he can look at and recognize the image of his son.
Too many in the world are already addicted to something, what happens when the leaders above them are no different? Can the student become free in such an atmosphere? Or will they just graduate with a better sense of how to hide in the church system?
Remember what Jesus said he came to do…”The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” Luke 4:18
Are we not supposed to be following Jesus's example?
