The Two Witnesses

  Do you ever sit and wonder about some of the upcoming, future events? How they will play out, what that moment will feel like?

  Can you imagine what will happen when Revelation 11 takes place? Regardless of who the Two Witnesses are (I am not sure it matters), they will have a profound effect on the Earth and God’s people. I mean does it really matter if it’s Moses and Enoch or Enoch and Elijah? Or perhaps some other group that the Father decided we have not even thought of yet?

  When they come, will they suddenly just “appear” or will an Angel announce them? Will the crowds understand what they are seeing when it starts? Or will even you join and hurl insults?

  Scripture seems to imply everyone will be against them, even though they will be working in signs and wonders. Will they sleep, will they eat? I mean 1260 days of prophesying, that’s a really long fast if you don’t eat? Or will they even need to?

  These dudes will have real power, not pretend power and it will be enough to cause the whole earth to get out of their way. I mean if you think about it, a lot will have happened on the earth by the time these guys arrive. Ya got large portions of the earth (land and sea) dead. A Locust/scorpion-like creature attacking people, stars falling from the sky (possibly nuclear warheads) and the demon Apollyon (some people believe this will be the god Apollo) coming up out of the Abyss. So maybe people have gotten so used to living with powerful events these guys no longer shock them?

  Death had become so common that the only thing that really shocked them was the witnesses coming back to life. “But after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who were watching them. And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” Then they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them.” Rev 11:11-12. So a few questions must be asked.

  Who is Attacking Them?

  Historically prophets generally died at the hands of people in authority, especially the ruling religious authority. The last best examples of this would be John the Baptist and Jesus who was the Son of God. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that the people whom The Two Witnesses are with would be no different. 

  Something as big and well-known as the Two Witnesses would seriously disrupt the power base of any denominations (Gentile or Jewish) that would be still standing at this point in history. I have seen a few foolish people in the Charismatic world who I have no doubt in my mind would march up to these guys and demand that they submit to their Apostolic authority for they were out of line with their personal doctrine. And this would be because these Apostolic Leaders have spent their lives building their own kingdom in Jesus's name.

What are They Saying?

  The best clue is in the name, Witnesses. Witnesses testify as to what they have seen and heard. This is further backed up in verse 7, “When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them.” So let me add an important part of this puzzle from Jesus when he was talking with Nicodemus. This teacher of the law was having problems understanding what the Lord of Life was saying, so Jesus took things a step further, “If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” John 3:12

  These Witnesses came from the very presence of God, so I believe they are going to be testifying about heavenly things, possibly far beyond human understanding. This will interfere with many doctrines and theologies. Basically, they have come to the correct EVERYONE's theology. Have you ever been in a place where someone’s personal doctrine was greatly disturbed? Let me tell you, things can get ugly.

  There are camps right now that have really strong beliefs on the rapture issue, both for and against. And if you stand on the wrong side of the argument, you are quickly labeled as evil.

What Effect will this Bring to the Body of Christ?

  To me, the Two Witnesses will be the shot in the arm of adrenaline that we will need at possibly one of our lowest points.

  Have you ever seen the effect of a spiritual outpouring in a corner of the Body of Christ? People's lives change, I know mine did 40 years ago. So let’s ponder this, what do you think will happen to the Body of Christ on Earth when they see this? Faith will rise to profound levels, demons will run as everyone will be asking the Lord the same question in prayer, “What can I do, can I try that? Can I raise the dead?” People who don’t even believe in Spiritual gifting will be faced with a hard question, “does it exist?” 

 Typically, such Holy moments close the door to human thinking and stroll past our preconceived spiritual ideas. Dramatic signs and wonders that have not been seen in a very long time are about to be seen by everyone. And in this day and age, everyone will see it unfold for three and half years on any device that they own.

  In today’s technology-driven world, the world will watch all this on the internet. Faith is going to rise. The demonic realm has a limited amount of demons in its army. I suspect all of Satan’s rage will at this point be pointed at the Two Witnesses, as a result, the demonic pressure over God’s weary warriors on the Earth will lessen as the demonic horde gets reassigned to Jerusalem. 

  This is a sign, a sign for everyone to move forward in the Power, Hope, and Grace of God to the world in a way they have only dreamed of. There will be pressure locally on believers as local, deceived congregations feel the pressure of the moment. Many people are now stepping away from woke leadership, but in this moment, I think it will turn into a flood as their financial base crumbles.

  The two witnesses will be like a giant waving flag to the body, freedom is coming, your Lord is almost here.

  Think about it for a moment, about these two people that the Holy Spirit is going to use to “open the door” of wonder for His people. All the emotional baggage we carry that gets in the way is going to be left, piles around our feet as we watch the events unfold. We will wait as they lie dead in the streets, waiting. Ready to throw a party because we know that the Lord is about to raise them from the dead.

  These two people have most likely been waiting a long time to fulfill their mission on Earth. While we still doubt that the Lord can use us to even heal someone, they will be doubtless about releasing fire.
