What I Believe
I know just by the title of this article your mind has already formed a conclusion as to what this will be about. But, hopefully, by now you realize that I often look at things… well, from a different perspective. Call it spiritual stubbornness to not conform to the norm. Or you can call it deep wisdom when I am just trying to “destuff” our language and pull out the Christian fluffy words that I feel are meant to impress. But, regardless of your thoughts here are a few things.
I believe Jesus made things simple but people love to complicate.
I believe Jesus knew how to laugh and appreciated humor.
I believe Christians try to find any other way they can to solve a problem without asking Jesus for help. I know, I’ve done it.
I believe Christians will gladly fake spiritual gifting to look “normal,” just to avoid getting close to God.
I believe Christians have the same attitude as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai, “YOU GO TALK TO HIM MOSES/PASTOR WE WILL JUST HANG OUT RIGHT HERE!”
I believe the Holy Spirit loves to give prophetic words to his people.
I believe Christians collect spiritual stuff like prophetic words as if they were nicknacks to collect dust on a shelf.
I believe that the Holy Spirit will stop talking at some point as he watches your spiritual nicknacks increase, and never get used.
I believe that if Pizza or Hamburgers were mentioned in the New Testament some denominations would have twisted scripture enough to include them in communion.
I believe that we have propped up dead spiritual systems so long that we have convinced ourselves that they are still alive.
I believe we are really very, very good at pandering the things of God for our own glory.
I believe that spiritual starvation has caused a lot of people to become fat on spiritual junk food.
I believe that the hyper-religious and the hyper-grace all have one thing in common. They all seek to rip apart the middle.
I believe that given enough time, fallen people could justify almost any sin in the Bible… oh wait they already have.
I believe we are only as good as the “systems” that taught us to be religious.
I believe we all need a “come to Jesus,” moment to get free of the religious systems.
I believe that we have learned to listen to fear, despair, and doubt so much they have replaced the voice of the Holy Spirit.
I believe hide and seek is so common in the Body of Christ that the world no longer knows we are here.
I believe the need for revival is the one thing we all pray for in public but hide from in reality.
I believe Jesus is not bored in Heaven, think about it.
