Even though my dad was from the south, and I was born in the deserts of Utah. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, just a little south of the Canadian border. Many of us joked that Noah's ark must have landed on Mount Baker ( the resident 10,000-foot volcano) because of all the crazy amount of rain.
It’s been over 25 years since I lived in that place, but I still cannot stand the rain for very long. I remember one year, a constant flood of storms was coming off the Pacific Ocean and just slamming into the coast with high winds. That was the worst, 40 straight days of unending rain going sideways. Everything solid, liquified into mud.
It was a chore to get wrapped up in rain gear to do something simple outside. You would walk a short distance, sinking into the lawn in your mud boots. You churned up and destroyed the lawn just by walking. Then, before you went into the house, you needed to turn the hose on. Just spray the mud off, because the mud was sticky, and you were trying to keep it out of the house.
A trip to the store or work involved opening the door to your car or truck, sitting on the seat in the rain to trade boots for shoes. The inside of most people's cars and trucks was a mess or destroyed after 40 days.
Sometimes I think of those horrible days and realise that we have the spiritual equivalent playing in many areas of Charismatic Christendom right now. In my case, I am going to speak on the issue of my former employer, Morningstar Ministries.
In my last post, “Welcome to the Christian Circus.” It inadvertently caused some unintended questions from people, which have now prompted this update post. This caused me to ask a few people the following questions. To keep people safe, I have altered some parts of the answers to keep the targets off various people's backs.
Question #1
I am being told that Rick Joyner is now telling the staff that this year's MFM conference will be the last for Morningstar. Person #1: Yes, it’s true. Person #2: Have not heard it, but he has cancelled all conferences except they will have a one-day gathering on New Year's Eve.
Question #2
What’s happening at the Moravian Falls Church? Person #1: There seems to be a blending/mixing with another church. Person #2: The building at the Falls is almost empty, so yes, they are combining congregations. Person #3: People at the Falls are not happy with Rick, and this is why some people are leaving.
Question #3
Is Rick about to lose more staff?
Person #1 & 3 Yes, some high-level staff are now looking for the exit. (P.S. I have been told names, but I don’t want to make things worse for them, so I am withholding that information - RF)
Question #4
What about outside the ministry in the general community?
Person #2: People who supported and defended Rick are now turning away.
Question #5
What about inside? How does it feel?
Person #2 Dead, no life, expecting layoffs. Rick still wants to keep doing the School of the Prophets. They are also planning on phasing out the hotel. Person #3: It’s dead, just going through the motions. I expect the school to be pointless.
In speaking with these people, it’s obvious that Rick is dragging this thing to the very end, and that it feels like they're trudging through mud at Morningstar. There are concerns about paying the bills and when a person should step away to find new employment. I get it, it leaves a person very unsettled on the inside. As of yet, I have only heard rumors of board meetings that I have not been given permission to post the conversations. And I am surprised that Rick has not been fired by them yet.
Perhaps the board is spinless, or maybe they are just waiting for the lawsuits to do the work, I don’t know.
Many of the high-level leaders are simply waiting for Humpty Dumpty to fall so that they can take advantage of what’s left. In this, the eagles got wise and left, and vultures now parade around in the eagle's wings around Rick. The reality is, very little will be left for the vulture to pick at.
There are a few good souls inside, trying to keep out of the line of fire. These are the financial slaves of Morningstar, who see no other way to go. It burdens their soul to work for “The Pope.” But these people have Hope, so hold on tight. The Lord will break the spirit of Pharaoh, and then the real journey starts.
Ponder this.
“What is crooked cannot be straightened;
What is lacking cannot be counted.” Ecclesiastes 1:15
I will, however, say one final thing for anyone still working inside who is reading this. I have been told by a good source, watch your conversations in public areas. All things are being recorded on video and audio. DO NOT communicate anything sensitive on a Morningstar email or any other system owned by the ministry. It’s being monitored.
If you are a visitor to Morningstar, and you want to talk to someone about what is going on. Invite them to lunch or coffee off campus to talk. You might get the employee in trouble otherwise.
Morningstar's director of electronic communications, A.T. Snoots, is really good at monitoring things. I have been told by a good source that he is a ladder climber and reports many things to Rick.
More to come, I’m sure…
Quick Update: This confirmation was just sent to me from a subscriber 5/31/25 @ 7:30 PST. Rick just posted on the Morningstar app the following. “I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SPEAKING AT THE GATHERING TOMORROW. My subject will be Vision For The Times, and the proposed coming merger. Input and questions from the congregation will be congregation will be welcome. I look forward to seeing you there.”
Big changes are coming for the Moravian Falls Church.
This is so sad and probably has hurt a lot of people who trusted the ministry! I pray that they will not turn away from God because of it!
